Celebrity sighting at RHS! Acclaimed actress and Alabama native Sandra Lafferty recently visited Ms. Blalock's Multicultural Literature class as a guest speaker. She has been in movies and shows such as The Hunger Games, Walk the Line, NYPD Blue, Melrose Place, Baywatch, and Boy Meets World. During the class session, she shared her experience in film and theatre and even performed a couple of monologues to show what an actor does at an equity open call. She also shared her knowledge of playing the iconic Granny Dollar, the 101-year-old "Daughter of the Cherokee" on Lookout Mountain from the 1890s through 1930s. She spoke about her experience filming Lore, Season 1, episode 6, "Unboxed." Her insights were particularly relevant to the class's current Myths, Legends, and Folktales unit study. We're grateful to Ms. Lafferty for taking the time to inspire our students and share her wealth of knowledge.
