Three Rome City Schools elementary schools have been recognized by the Georgia Governor's Office of Student Achievement as 2025 Beating the Odds schools, a distinction that highlights schools whose academic performance exceeds expectations when compared to statistically similar schools across the state.
Anna K. Davie Elementary School, Elm Street Elementary School, and West Central Elementary School all earned the recognition based on their performance on Georgia's College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).
"This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families," Rome City Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland said. "Anna K. Davie, Elm Street, and West Central continue to prove that when high expectations are paired with outstanding instruction and strong support systems, students can achieve at exceptional levels. These schools are truly moving the needle for student achievement."
For the three schools, the Beating the Odds designation reflects more than test scores. It highlights the impact of dedicated educators, strong leadership, engaged families, and students who continue to rise to challenges and achieve at high levels.
"We know our students are capable of great things, and this recognition confirms what we see in our classrooms every day," Holland said. "These schools are creating opportunities for students to succeed regardless of circumstances, and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments."
The Beating the Odds analysis uses a statistical model that considers factors such as poverty, student mobility, demographics, and other characteristics to predict a school's expected academic performance. Schools that significantly outperform those expectations receive the Beating the Odds designation.
The Governor's Office of Student Achievement releases the Beating the Odds analysis annually to recognize schools that exceed predicted performance levels based on schools with similar student populations and demographics.
